Prof. Tsang is an international senior scientist in computational physics, space physics and fusion
energy systems, specialized in scientific simulation; statistical modeling as well as data analysis. He spent
most of his career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and well known research consulting companies:
SAIC and MITRE Corporation in USA, from 1975 to 2003, as senior research scientist,
and lead engineer, engaging in research and managing projects in fusion microwave systems and space.
Currently, he is a professor in Statistics at Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University-
United International College. His major research interest is in analyzing and modeling datasets from
lunar orbiters, such as Chang’E-1, 2 (China) and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (US), and applying
statistical and data-mining methods to various big data applications.
